A Holy Thursday 1810, specifically on April 19 began in Caracasthe beginning of an era in the history of Venezuela. On that day, the council of Caracas, with support from the people and importantsectors of the armed forces of both the veteran battalions of militia,as well as prominent figures of the clergy, society, intellectuals,deposed the Governor and Captain-General Vicente Emparan andother Spanish officials, sending them into exile. This revolutionary movement that took place in a bloodless, finally had an impact onthe political, economic, social and cultural development not only inVenezuela but throughout South America.
